Biological and microbial applications of specialized physical and electrochemical techniques
Dr. Mathieu Etienne: Research in LCPME: At the cross-section of physical chemistry and microbiology.
Dr. Sofiane El-Kirat-Chatel: Atomic force microscopy to decipher microbial adhesion.
In the last decades, AFM has evolved towards biological applications. During this talk, I will show how it can be used in imaging, single-molecule and single-cell force spectroscopy modes to decipher the adhesion mechanisms of microbial cells.
Dr. Liang Liu: Scanning electrochemical probe measurements: Development towards biological applications?
Scanning electrochemical probe techniques has a long history of development in LCPME. This includes scanning reference electrode technique (SRET, by Michel Perdicakis), scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) and its combination with shear force detection and Raman analysis (by Mathieu Etienne), and scanning gel electrochemical microscopy (SGECM).
