Transport Phenomena and Mechanics in 3D Tissue Model Environments

3D tissue models have become an integral part of biomedical research. They can adequately depict processes of cell orientation, cell differentiation and adaptation to stimuli. With the help of extensive microscopic and biochemical-molecular-biological data, algorithms can be developed to use mathematical simulations to predict the response of tissues to external stimuli, stimuli and active substances and to develop digital twins to optimize clinical therapies.
Using application-oriented research examples, studies on the development of carrier-based 3D biointerfaces are presented and results of surface-triggered interactions between cells and surface structures and 3D environments as a niche for tissue engineering with stem cells and their integration into microfluidic systems as well as the use of AI are discussed.
